At the university level, the MFI is committed to graduate education through the department of Fisheries Oceanography at the School for Marine Science and Technology at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. This department provides students with a unique educational experience beyond the "classic" graduate degree and prepares them for a future in the dynamic profession of fisheries science. These graduates will address the growing need for marine sciences in federal and state agencies and universities.
